One of a stack of low-budget board-type games. The basic story is here: Vintage Games and Playing Pieces. There’s a list of the games below.
Here’s another puzzle game for one player.
For Get Your Goat, start with blue markers on circles A and B, and red markers on circles D and E. The object is to reverse their positions, bringing the red markers to circles A and B, and the blue markers to circles D and E in 6 moves.
Move any marker along any straight line in the diagram to an unoccupied circle, and still counting it as one move, you may continue on to another circle. You cannot branch off at an angle from the center on any of the straight lines. For instance, to get from D to B, go first to A, then to B – provided both A and B are unoccupied.
WARNING: SPOILER ALERT. DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU CAN’T FIGURE OUT THE SOLUTION. The instructions specifically state, “SOLUTION: PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU ARE COMPLETELY BAFFLED.” So we’ll assume you have tried and are completely baffled if you’ve read this far. Here’s the solution:
(1) Move E to F, (2) A to C to E, (3) D to A to C, (4) B to A to D, (5) C to A to B, (6) F to C to A.
At least the outcome of this game is not determined by the dreaded spinner.
